The Cygnus was the courier version of the Hermes class scout. A
number of these ships were modified during the Four Years War to become
Cygnus class command ships.
As with the Saladin class a number of the remaining Courier vessels were
refitted to an experimental configuration with a neck mounted deflector
dish, instead of the original that was mounted below the primary hull. This
modification improved reliability of the deflector system, but did not
affect combat performance.
