The Farragut class was based on the Bison design, it was optimised for
ground assault at the expense of ship to ship operations. The ships were
primarily intended to be used in the invasion of the Romulan home worlds,
fortunately the war ended before that became necessary, although the class
did see combat action in the outlying systems.
