The Artor class was designed to perform infiltration operations, as such
it was equipped with low-signature warp-engines and a comprehensive ECM
suite. However, the sensor technology of the Federation proved to be far
more effective than the Klingons' expected. This superiority was shown by
the failure of the first mission of the IKS Artor, all 87 crewmembers were
made prisoners of war by the Federation. The class was redesignated and
refitted as a scout, and continued in service until 2261.
